Example 1: Fake Bank Emai

Subject: Urgent: Suspicious Activity on Your Account

Message:
“Dear Customer,
We detected unusual activity on your bank account. Please click the link below to verify your information immediately to avoid account suspension.”

Why This Is a Scam?

  • Uses fear and urgency
  • Does not use your real name
  • Contains a link asking for personal information

What To Do?

  • Do NOT click the link
  • Delete the email
  • Contact your bank using the number on your card

Example 2: Package Delivery Text Scam

“Your package is on hold due to an address issue. Click here to update your delivery details.”

Why This Is a Scam?

  • You were not expecting a package
  • The link looks shortened or strange
  • Delivery companies don’t ask for personal info by text

What To Do?

  • Do NOT click the link
  • Delete the message
  • Check delivery status directly on the company’s official website

Example 3: Tech Support Phone Scam

Phone Call:
“This is Microsoft support. Your computer has been infected with a virus. You must act now.”

Why This Is a Scam?

  • Tech companies do not call customers
  • Creates panic to force quick action
  • Asks for remote access or payment

What To Do?

  • Hang up immediately
  • Do NOT give access to your computer
  • Restart your device if anything was installed

Example 4: Fake Payment Request

Email or Text:
“Your payment could not be processed. Click here to update your credit card information.”

Why This Is a Scam?

  • Generic message
  • Poor grammar or unusual formatting
  • Requests financial information through a link

What To Do?

  • Log in to your account directly (not through the link)
  • Check your statements
  • Report suspicious messages
